Types of Sandwich Labels
With so many different types of sandwiches, there are many different types of sandwich labels possible which must be tailored to the product at hand. It could be a bread roll sandwich which requires a small circular label, a longer baguette sandwich which would be better served with a rectangular label, or even a triangular cut sandwich where a custom shape label is required to fit the packaging.
At Fast Labels, you can also choose from many different materials and finishes: water- and weatherproof polypropylene, paper, metallic, clear, textured, gloss, matt, and more.
Whichever one you choose, we can guarantee that your design will be presented in the crispest, clearest way possible, with vivid colours and rich detail that enhance the look of your brand and the sandwiches you sell.
Importance of Sandwich Labels
The packaging label is always the first aspect any potential customer will notice about your product before they buy, so it is important to stand out from the crowd to drive more sales of your sandwiches.
It’s crucial that customers can easily see a sell-by date, a list of ingredients and allergy information, as well as any brand elements (such as a business name, logo and imagery) to enhance the perception of your product.
With our bespoke sandwich labels, all necessary information can be aligned in an easily digestible manner without compromising on the aesthetics of your design.
Legal Requirements for Sandwich Labels
Allergen Labelling
Prepacked for direct sale (PPDS) foods must comply with labelling requirements (or Natasha’s Law), which states that all ingredients, including the top 14 allergens, must be declared.
Quantitative Ingredient Declarations
All PPDS foods have to come with a quantitative ingredients declaration (QUID), stating (in percentages) just how much of each crucial ingredient is actually in the sandwich being sold.
However, this does not always have to be applied to every single ingredient, but the ones most closely associated with the product. For more information, please refer to this GOV.UK list.
Choosing the Right Materials for Sandwich Labels
Range of Materials Available
Choose from a number of finishes, including matt, gloss, clear, metallic and textured, which can be applied to our polypropylene or paper materials.
Polypropylene is more hard-wearing and durable, boasting waterproof and weatherproof features, making it perfect for less-than-ideal storage conditions or situations where the sandwiches will be regularly handled. It’s safe for use on the outside of the packaging too.
Thanks to its flexibility, polypropylene also effectively withstands becoming creased, which is important if the sandwich happens to be packaged in a bag or wrapper.
Paper, on the other hand, is more cost-effective, and can still work just fine on most types of packaging. It’s also likely the material of choice if your sandwich is packaged in paper or card, and you wish to use a similar material for the label as well.
Both options also use strong adhesive, making them ideal if you’re using the labels as a method of sealing the packaging.

Incorporating Ingredients and Product Details
As mentioned previously, it’s important to make allergens and ingredients highly visible when designing your labels. Typically they’re included on a back/rear label in an easy-to-read format.
You may only have a few seconds to grab a potential customer’s attention, so ensure that any selling points, such as key ingredients or locally sourced produce, are listed clearly on the front.
Printing and Delivery Options for Sandwich Labels
Range of Printing Options
All of our labels are printed on state-of-the-art Indigo print presses, offering the highest-quality finish in detail and colour vibrancy.
The labels can be supplied on sheets, rolls, or as individually cut singles, depending on your preferences and methods of application. For sandwich labels, rolls or sheets are usually the best way forward, with rolls being key if you’re using any kind of label applicator.
If you have a wide range of sandwiches, you can also leverage our multi-design option during checkout to save money via bulk quantity discounts.
